NEW YORK - Microsoft Corp. has liquidated its 7.3 percent stake in Comcast Corp.'s Class A shares, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing on Friday.

Microsoft owned roughly 150.9 million Class A shares as of March 6, 2008, according to a previous proxy filing. The software company's stake in Comcast was passive, which indicates that the investment was not made to change or influence control of the company.

The filing did not indicate when the shares were sold.

Microsoft acquired 115 million Comcast shares in 2002 as part of a deal related to Comcast's acquisition of AT&T Broadband.

Comcast, based in Philadelphia, is the nation's largest cable operator. Its shares gained 32 cents, or 2.1 percent, to $15.33 on Friday.
