Sports Illustrated Owes Favre A Thank You

Sports Illustrated should really send something more than a fleece or a football phone to the now unretired Green Bay Packers Quarterback Brett Favre.

Why? Because their quick turnaround retirement tribute book they released in April was on the New York Times best seller list for a remarkable six weeks, peaking at No. 6.

That a 224-page tribute could do that is remarkable.

Sports Illustrated spokesman Scott Novak said it was too early too tell exactly how many books were sold, but that the print run was somewhere in between 150,000 and 175,000.

Seeing that it was a best seller for a month and a half, let's assume SI sold 100,000 copies. At $27.95 a piece, that's a gross take of $2.8 million.

The real question is: Will anyone buy the updated second edition?
