        Despite the unexpected drawback in U.S. crude inventories, oil prices continued their fall Thursday, to below $46 a barrel, near four-year lows, as economic fears deepened. As the downturn persists, analysts interviewed by CNBC suggest oil could fall to $20 a barrel.

        Sweden slashed its key rate by a record 1.75 points to 2%, boosting stock markets, with investors expecting hefty cuts from the European Central Bank and the Bank of England later Thursday.

        Asia-Pacific nations kept up the flood of grim news after U.S. data showed private sector employers axing jobs at the fastest pace in seven years, and that the economy, in recession for a year, had deteriorated in the past few weeks.
