PPI after CPI?  This morning, the Producer Price Index (PPI) will be reported at 8:30 am EST. Its counterpart, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) came out last Thursday. Typically, PPI precedes CPI (in fact, many economists use PPI in their models to forecast CPI), but not this time.   Read More

The Consumer Price Index, a measure of the average price level of a basket of consumer goods and services, was up 0.2% for the month of September, while the core CPI rate, excluding energy and food, rose 0.2%.  On a year-over-year basis, consumer prices were down 1.3%.   Read More
